The Hell With Politics: The Life and Writings of Jane Wood Reno
Published in Hardcover by Peachtree Publishers (October, 1994)
Average review score:

Must have been one hell of a womanIf you read this book, and cross ref. it with Janet Reno, Doing the Right Thing by Anderson, you will find out what, or who, made janet Reno what she is today.
The hell with politics, don't worry about what the majority says, figure out what you think, and do the right thing. Fix what you can, do what you must.
Jane wrestled alligators, wandered on the beaches, and was accepted by the local Indians as one of their own. She would go for the throat, if anything was between her and her objective. She built her own house, raised four kids, and worked as a journalist. She stood against the Mafia, and testifyed at the child kidnapping trials. She had insight and vision. All that Janet is, I suspect, is a remnant of her mother.

Historic Figures of the Arthurian Era: Authenticating the Enemies and Allies of Britian's Post-Roman King
Published in Library Binding by McFarland & Company (February, 2000)
Average review score:

An excellent extension of Frank Reno's exploration of Arthur"Historic Figures of the Arthurian Era" is Frank Reno's follow-up to his "The Historic King Arthur"... The work presented here extends Reno's explorations into the real world of "King Arthur" as found in the ancient written texts. It's a detailed, challenging book which should be of great interest to anyone who strongly wishes to better understand what lay behind all those centuries of legend and myth.

In the Ruins of the Church: Sustaining Faith in an Age of Diminished Christianity
Published in Paperback by Brazos Press (September, 2002)
Average review score:

A challenge to complacencyIn THE RUINS OF THE CHURCH Dr. Reno challenges us to face the gospel and to recognize that our greatest difficulties with faith come, not from science or postmodernism per se, but from our own human reluctance to change, more particularly, our reluctance to be changed. In addition to this, Dr. Reno looks deeply at some of the problems facing the Episcopal Church and offers some suggestions as to the causes and possible solutions. Reno spends time critiquing the now common role of Bishop as a priest with a theological chip on their shoulder ordained not to defend the faith, but to be "prophetic," or in common language, to push for their own agendas. This is a very timely assessment when considering the recent appointment of +Rowan Williams as Archbishop of Canterbury. Williams, who is a wonderful writer and thinker from what I have read, shares many of the same criticisms of modern culture that Dr. Reno does; however, Williams is known to be a liberal on certain issues, such as ordination of homosexuals. What is interesting is that Williams has made it clear upon accepting the appointment as Archbishop of Canterbury that his role is to defend the faith as received and not to push his own agenda. In this way Williams-known to be opposed to the ideals of John Spong- seems to represent the type of bishop Reno champions.
We recently had the honor of having Dr. Reno speak at our university and after speaking with him in person I recommend his book with even greater enthusiasm.

Janet Reno: Doing the Right Thing
Published in Hardcover by John Wiley & Sons (June, 1994)
Average review score:

Sound writtingAnderson creates a very "human" view of our Attorney General. He address many 'rumors' and puts them to rest, rather well. This book is far more educational than One might expect, and delves into the relm of politics. Anderson defines The A.G. as a social reformist, and I think he made a correct assessment of her life long pursuits to make this country a better place. Anderson will have you cheering and praising Janet Reno. I was well pleased with this work.

Kafka: the Torment of Man
Published in Hardcover by Philosophical Library (June, 1968)
Average review score:

A Poignant Exploration of the Artist's SufferingIt is perhaps not hard to accept the solitude of Kafka the writer after wandering the labyrinthine streets of Prague and other locales in his works. Kafka the individual for the reader is as elusive as is the truth for any of the stories' protagonists. This short biography explains much of the background for Kafka's absurdist, surreal, desperate writing, and, drawing upon the artist's background and creative experiences, paints a vivid picture to aid the casual reader and literary critic alike.

A great book about a true American hero.Remember Reno is the true story of how one man's life can make a differance in history
It traces his life as a young man entering West Point
Surveying a road to the West
Going to war with Mexico
Writing the militaries artilliary manual
His duty as an armory comander and it's capture as one of the first actions of the Civil War
To his becomming General in charge of his own Division
His men loved him and he did well in all the battles he fought
He was shot by a lone snipers bullet while reviewing the front line
The city of Reno Nevada is named after him
Perhaps I am biased because He was my Great Uncle but if you would like to read about a true American Hero read it and then decide for yourself
I'm sure it will give you a new appreceation for the name of "The biggest little city in the world"

This book is subtitled Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology Special Publication 19, and it makes me want to run out and buy the whole series. The cover has a wonderful aerial photographic of the Truckee Meadows oriented toward the south, snow clad mountains disappearing into the horizon.
Did I mention that this book is cheap?
